UT Care - Cranberry Extract

Description

80% of woman experience Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) at least once during their life. There are a series of case histories and pathological histories consequent to the inflammatory response of the urothelium to an infection. They are generally associated with bacteriuria.

E.Coli infections occur more frequently in women. In recent years the infections to urinary tract have increased. The traditional therapy with antibiotics is no longer sufficient, above all is the recurrences due to the resistance developed by bacteria.

Menopause also increases the likelihood of UTl's because a decline in estrogen levels lead to thinning of the urinary tract lining, making it easier for bacteria to break through.

During pregnancy woman have an increase risk of developing UTI's because, the bladder can be compressed by the foetus and is unable to empty completely.

Clinical Pharmacology

Anti-Bacterial action on urinary tract
UT Care (Cranberry extract) includes potassium, organic acids such as malic acid, citric acid and flavonoids such as proanthocyanidins, anthocyanins and flavonols.

Proanthocyanidins interfere in the bacterial fimbriae joint to the tirinary tract.Recent research indicates that the active components of cranbern prevent deleterious bacteria (such as Escherichia coli) from adhering to the epithelial lining of the urinary tract where they could otherwise congregate, multiply, and induce infection. Therefore bacteria are eliminated through urine , preventing colonization.
