Liometacen Side Effects

Gastrointestinal tract

Due to the different method of administration, with Liometacen so far no cases have been reported of gastrointestinal haemorrhage, ulceration, perforation or stenosis, at times severe and in exceptional cases fatal, which have been reported following oral administration of indomethacin; occasional nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea have been reported.

Eye

Sight disturbances, deposits on the cornea and retinal disturbances have been reported following prolonged treatment of subjects with rheumatoid arthritis, although similar reactions have been described in patients with the same disease, not treated with indomethacin.

Liver

There have been rare reports of hepatitis with jaundice; some exceptional fatal cases have been reported.

Blood

There have been isolated descriptions of aplastic or haemolytic anaemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia and thrombocytopenic purpura. It should be remembered that even a low level of anaemia may be the result of small and repeated manifest or occult gastrointestinal haemorrhages.

Nervous system

Psychic disturbances with mental depression, confusion, headache at times severe and persistent (which must indicate interruption of treatment if reduction of the dosage is not sufficient), vertigo, stunning, hearing disorders, buzzing.

Allergic reactions

Rashes, urticaria, angioedema, purpura, dyspnoea and asthma

Others

oedema, hypertension, haematuria, hyperglycemia, glycosuria, epistasis, vaginal haemorrhages.
